Re: [T3] "Whistling" noise (not whirring)... a follow up post

<x-charset iso-8859-1>VICTORY IS MINE!

A few months back I had been trying to solve the mystery of a strange
undeterminable whistling noise coming from the fan shroud area. I received
several suggestions, none of which resolved the problem. But just
yesterday, by total accident, I identified the problem (and it's sort of a
no-brainer)!

What I discovered was that the generator pulley was ever-so-slightly in
contact with the pulley shroud cover and at a certain RPM range, the
resonance of the pulley would cause it to "sing". A slight repositioning of
the pulley shroud has fixed the problem!

I had removed the cover to check the timing and while I was revving it I
thought, "hey, the #&$%* noise is gone"! So I decided to take it for a spin
without the pulley shroud cover installed and life is good.

Just thought I'd pass along this bit of info, however minor. Minor unless,
like me, you've been chasing (and tolerating) this EXTREMELY annoying noise
for several months.
