Re: [T3] Poor Upholstry fit

<x-charset iso-8859-1>I contacted TMI and told them my story. I talked to a guy who told me that
when VW switched to the new style seats in 1965, they first used up all the
inventory of the old style seats. So, even though the official seat of the
'65 was the new low-back, many cars recieved the old low-back. Furthermore,
there was no way to know how many of the '65s had the early style, nor could
they trace the cutoff to a certain VIN range.

I guess I have no reason not to believe him, because he offered to exchange
my backrest covers for the old style anyway.

Judging by the response from this list, the "inventory" of old seats must
have been pretty large.
