BTW, VW's instructions on the ball joints, to avoid the chance that someone would overgrease them, was to install the zerks, grease appropriately, remove the zerks, reinstall the plastic plugs. Repeat every 100,000 miles. ;-) <I made this part up.> > I also noticed that the tie rod boots are shot. I will be replacing them > next. I find that this is pretty common. I have not been able to find correct replacement boots. Anyone have a source. The VW parts list and WCM's catalog are BOTH wrong: What they both supply are boots for the earlier ends with the smaller taper pins. The early boots don't last long when stretched over the late joints. - Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe
