I've used a test light and a voltometer. I get a solid 12V at both sides of
the coil with the ignition on.

Should I be seeing voltage at the "inner" side of the points (the side
nearest to the dizzy shaft)? I see voltage contstantly at the outside half
of the points when I rotate the engine or the dizzy.

I had a juice reading at one time on the dizzy shaft, but I could never get
a voltage reading at the inner side of the points. I thought that was
strange (unless I'm not understanding the pathflow of the voltage properly).

This is possible. We need a really good resource for diagnosing ignition
problems, piece by piece (one with good illustrations or photos) something
better than the JOHN MUIR book.

Thanks for all your advice. I'm off now to double check the resistance in
the rotor and the dizzy cap-to-coil wire.
