<x-charset iso-8859-1>>ok, this is a pretty dumb one. i have installed a tach into where the clock once was. everything is hooked up nice but the ignition coil wire. what is the best way to get a wire back to the coil from the gauge, without riping a bunch of stuff out. the holes that i can see good are both siliconed up. anyone have any bright ideas? > My '63 Notchback had a dealer-installed reverse light, the wiring was kinda cheesy but original. A wire ran from the reverse light switch on the back of the speedo, down the center of the car behind the radio and then under the carpet and up under the reat seat. Under the rear seat, there was a hole drilled that allowed the wire to come out near the rear shift coupler: http://thesamba.com/vw/scrapbook/63notchback14.jpg >From the rear shift coupler area, it was just fed next to the tranny and around the left side of the engine and out to to the rear bumper, no zip ties or anything, just twisted around whatever was nearby or crimped into the factory wiring harness clamps. I installed a tach in that car and ran the tach wire side by side next to the reverse light wire, except it went up to the coil near the end instead of out to the rear bumper. Sorry, I didn't take any other photos.
