Your car should be very smooth and there is nothing you need to "get used to" nor should you leave something like that unfixed. Its easy to tell if a mount is bad by looking at it... and the shocks are for suspension shaking, not the engine... there are no hydraulic shock mounts on our engines or transmissions. and for goodness sake dont let this mechanic near your Fuel Injection!
