I'm toying with the idea myself. There are a few things you can do- get a stand alone rf modulator at best buy- they run about 25-30 and connect your mp3 player to the radio that way. If you want to change the head unit, there are lots of units that support an aux. input, ie. Blaukpunt. You could also get a in-dash cd player that supports mp3s or even get an eMpeg or equivalent mp3 player head unit that is hard drive based. There are lots and lots of ways to go here. As far as keeping the original radio, I was considering adding in an amp and wiring it directly into the speaker out on my sapphire radio and adding two things: an rf modulator for my portable mp3 player as well as an rf modulated cd changer. Does anyone have any suggestions as to products or how I might go about doing this. How about placement of speakers a squareback? OK sort of on topic... I want to know if anyone has tried to put an MP3 player in a vintage VW or has any experience with MP3 players in general? I am curious in putting such a radio in the new project. any thoughts, suggestions, warnings welcomed.
