<x-charset iso-8859-1>Hello- If its REAL performance you're after, then you could design a 4-2-1 extractor, which is a superior design for the rpm band most of us like to run (3000-6000 or so). 4-1 is only superior at really high rpm bands (7000-10000 sort of thing). This idea is really easiest with 68-73 models due to the lack of the rear transmission mount. I'm currently having one built for my '72 Fastback, but it's for a 2615cc T4 engine. Here's what it looks like: http://www.tangerineracing.com/912E_super_header_small.jpg It looks *fairly* simple in this pic, but once you see views in three dimensions, you'll see that it's no simple beast to make, but adds horsepower even on stockish engines over all the other headers out there. Plus, since all the tubing is run in front of the engine and on the side, the rear is only cluttered by a single pipe and your muffler... very clean, and it should help to clear the apron. Not to burst any bubbles or step over toes, but if you are planning to make a nice setup with a very limited market (those who don't like Bugpack stuff as-is) and only for T3's, then you should realize that you're likely to end up at the same or higher price that ISPWest sells them. Short run production is expensive. It's hard to compare prices to VW T1 stuff because it's just so common and cheap. But, if you look at other exhaust systems for other cars, it really isn't THAT bad.
