As someone else mentioned, you should study the breather system on your 
engine and make sure that it is functional. If it's plugged for any reason then 
there is nowhere for crankcase blowby to go and the internal pressure will 
force oil out the rear of the engine.

If the generator light comes on with the key and then goes off when the 
engine starts, the charging system is working, at least mostly. You need a 
voltmeter to check any more of this. I wouldn't worry about the oil on the 
brushes right now, although you need to do something about the cause of 
that problem.

I'm sending you my charging system FAQ which will help you test your 
charging system. You'll need a voltmeter to do this completely. You can get 
a cheap one at Radio Shack, or borrow one from a friend.
