Upon thinking about part sources for our cars, I've come up with this.I have a feeling if it wasn't for the more popular air cooled VW's having many interchangeable parts with our cars, that MANY parts for our cars would be alot harder to find. It's truly a shame that many in this market don't realize that alot of the type 1's technology in later years (disc brakes, 1600cc engine, ball joint front axle, etc.), started out in the Type 3. Our cars basically provided a "test bed" of sorts for many items found on other types of VW's, but the same parts weren't on those cars for, in some cases, several years. While it's true that the VW aftermarket owes it's sucess to the Beetle and Transporter, they shouldn't forget the cars that contributed to those model's sucess to begin with. I know Type 3 owners are a comparitivly small group indeed, but I beleive there are enough of us out there with purchasing power to "reign in" the ISP West's and other aftermarket sources that seem to think the phrase "Type 3" should equal three times the price. I know I'm ranting, but seeing things like ISP's "Abarth Repro" just inscenses me when an identical part for a Beetle would be 1/2 the price or cheaper. I'll get off my soapbox now.
