Yes, we discussed this awhile ago on the list.  But I think there were some
examples of J rims that were not safety rims.  Don't know if we ever got
complete resolution of this.  The safety "hump" is easy to see if the rubber
is off the rim.  It can even be seen on the outside of the rim, but it is
not quite as obvious.

The depression on the outside of the rim is not as obvious as indicated
