Re: [T3] Type 3 gods looking after me ..Was dropped valve seat MO FOCO

<x-charset iso-8859-1> Leon,
Why don't you try the guy I get my heads from?
How much are you paying for heads? Are they
ported? Big valves? Get back to me on this. I
think you'd be really happy with Don's work.
Good luck,
P.A.

1600cc stock cam and heads/valves are good enough for me unless
I went big bore. I have paid 160.00 max for new heads I have
bought the following:

Autolinea of Brazil, these are the types people mostly
buy as stock replacements. These have a G1 casted into
where the VW logo is supposed to be. They seem to make
CB and other brands sold in the US.

These have cracked and had noticeable major machine problems
around the sparkplug area. I have a pile of these. The cracks
vary from around and between valve seats or between spark plugs.

I have bought AMC brand from Spain, they supply most of the
type 4 heads for aftermarket. These melt really good even though
the Aluminum looks pretty and shiney. I bought one and noticed
three other melted ones at Bears machine shop.

They melt around the valve seat and you end up with the
seat sunk in .

I have bought prestine never been welded German heads, they
crack under heavy use good quality though, I have a pile of
these.

I just want heads that will not crack under use, everybody
can port heads, put bigger valves and smaller diameter
plugs in the heads but I have not seen or heard of anyone
boasting durability and better cooling under heavy use.

The heads I bought are from MOFOCO and are casted in
the USA (New York) and machined at MOFOCO midwest machine
shop, have better cooling because of
a bunch of extra fins (more than stock), thicker
combustion chambers, long reach plugs, very visibly
much heavier casting. The issue with this company was
machining, I complained about it to the company before
but they did not care to listen. The machining looked
like they sharpened their tools with a rasp. They have
their own site.

I wish to get this one head fixed (it is stock 1600 slightly
big valve similar to 041). I do not wish to have miss
matched combustion chamber size. Maybe later I would buy
from another vendor as a matched set to see how they stand.

Does your guy weld and repair heads better than most
people ? Wont Crack again ?

LEON
