Keith, Nearly all Australian Beetles of the time and obviously, my fasty, have the red GATA interior. The entire car is original. Nothing has been changed since it was new, including the carpets. The passenger door (which is the driver's side in the US) is near perfect but the driver door interior panel is pretty sad and will need some TLC. I'm getting a 1969 door to replace my rust bubbled door. Does anyone know if that will fit? The only non-standard addition seems to be the temperature gauge, and considering that it says the temp in Fahrenheit (or not Celsius) says to me it's pretty old. Australia converted to metric in 1970. This is the first Ive seen on a late model... Id trade my left *** for a nice Gata red Square interior... I think it would look striking when I go back to the factory Silver metallic on my 71... NEAT! more door panel pictures PLEASE! Is that the original grey carpeting? Also interesting to note that they didnt transpose the wiper and lighter knobs for the RHD model.
