<x-charset iso-8859-1>I recently bought a '70 F.I. Auto squareback from the original owner with 42k on the odometer. It has been sitting for 2 years because it developed an oil leak so he parked it. I ended up buying it and tailored it home. It had a new tranny installed shortly before it was parked. I changed the fuel lines, final drive gear oil, engine oil and adjusted the valves. I've been driving it around to see how it runs and it's been doing great... except for one thing. When I first drove it the tranny worked fine, now it doesn't want to shift into third gear. Looking in the Bentley it says to check the governor, the valve body assembly could be dirty, or the direct and reverse clutch could be defective. I thought I would ask the list what could be the problem because it worked fine for awhile before this happened and maybe get some ideas where the problem might be. Maybe because I didn't change the tranny fluid? The level is fine but I didn't change it because I don't have a pan gasket. I know you can just change the fluid, but if I go that far I want to clean the filter that's in there at the same time. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
