Hi everyone, I've just bought my fourth VW, a white 1970 Fastback. I've also owned a 1969 VW Beetle 1300 Deluxe (my first car) which was in far worse shape than my new t3, a Golf III (which I loved - mostly reliable), a Toyota Echo (utterly reliable and the quality is astounding), my current daily driver, a metallic silver New Turbo Beetle (Australian spec is loaded and I've added sunroof, quality is slipping on VW's or else I've been spoilt by Toyota), and now my new t3, a project car. It's currently on a property about 30 km from where I live, but it will be trailered to the nearest VW shop in the next two days. It's driveable and starts first time, but will need probably $500 odd to get back on the road. The car itself is very clean, and the backseat is immaculate, having not been used much and under a seat cover for nearly all its life. The car has the original service book and according to the book was serviced every 5000 miles until 1991. Then things got patchy when the next owner bought it off the original owner, leading to the car's eventual slide into deregistration in August 1997. My questions to this list are probably going to be answered as time goes on, and due to my cat getting run over on the same day I bought my t3 (this is ultra bad karma) and a lack of a garage, the full restoration will have to wait until at least August or September. The restoration will be back to stock, and I want to choose another color than the off-white that is now, but stick to the original palette of colors. I love the green of the green fastback on the site, does anyone know if that was an official color? We only ever seemed to get pooh brown, pale blue and white. If anyone is in Australia, I need a few small items. I need the rear boot badge, the two side indicators, a front left indicator, front bonnet and rear lid seals, and a relatively clean dash. I've got a clean driver's door lined up to replace the mine which has rust bubbling down the bottom. That is the extent of the missing or damaged bits. I know I'm dreaming that I'll be able to pick these up soon, but the door came to my attention on nearly the day I bought the t3, so here's to luck finding the bits. :-) Thanks, Andrew ------------------------------------------------------------------- Too much?
