The cams and the knob are all held on the shaft the same way, by a roll pin. 
In general it is not necessary to remove the shaft to fix things: Just press in 
a new pin. You may be able to buy something appropriate at the hardware 
store, or salvage enough from your junkyard seat to reuse.
