That could be true. Certainly one of the first Japanese built cars before
the war was an Austin built under licence. Curiously one of BMW's first cars
(they only built bikes and aero engines before) was the Dixie, an Austin 7
built under licence. How appropriate that it should be BMW that put the
final nails in the coffin of the British car industry. Of course it would
have helped if they'd built decent cars to start with.......
