I have always used a 5/32" x 2" cotter/split pin to make that repair. :=} Of 
course in Europe, you would probably use a metric one. 
Ask a buddy that is around industrial electrical stuff, He/she should have 
some electrical set screw terminal blocks that would make the splice if 
needed.
At this point in time, I don't think I want to let go of anymore parts off my 
parts car, since I bought the '66. I am already regretting selling the 12V 
wiper motor, and I am considering converting the '66 to IRS suspension 
eventually.
