I suppose it depends on what the factory is counting as a Type 3, but I suspect you're right. That discrepancy may be one reason for production figures from various sources not agreeing very well. Make that about 42,500 fewer Notches (the Type 34 figure the VW Automuseum book gives) = about 527,700. I was pleased to find the figures as a means of estimating the numbers of each different body style. I doubt we can get any further info from Volkswagen themselves, and really, does it matter to the last few thousand? Dave.
