Re:shipping on Books, similair rust.

Karl, thanks for sharing with the thread, how well the
Bentley 'export' went. I can not believe it arrived
in 4 days from Illinois to Sweden via USPS, surface
rate!

Two days left of free shipping in October offer to all
T-III listee's, on all books at:
http://www.vwtype3.anomalous.net !

Karl and I discovered we have identical rust on our
T-III's. See all the gory details at >>
http://www.vwtype3.anomalous.net/rust.htm
I think Karl describes as well as the photo's do. I
would like any recommendations on best repair methods
for the rear rocker panel area. My hopes right now
are to repair this area with-out having to do it 'pan
off ' ?

As for the rust up front: (not pictured on my site,
but also a shared rust area)

(My spot is on drivers side under washer fluid tank on
side of trunk, which on the outside as in the wheel ,
just behind the top center of the tire. An area about
2 inches square is visible from outside, and similar
in size visible from inside the front trunk.)

It was explained to, that to repair this rust,
basically taking the front of the car apart was the
best way to deal with this. After removing the
outside front fender, then remove the inner fender by
drilling out the weld spots, etc. Because of the
trunk liner is also rusty, removing the inner fender
allows access to both sides of both pieces. Is there
a third fender wall 'sandwiched' in-between as well, I
do not remember? Anyway, then the area can be patched
or replaced, and then put back together.

Other thoughts would be very welcome, as I am looking
to have these repair's made this winter, while the car
is off the road in snow and salt weather.
