Most of the "long stud" heads were eventually converted with repair kits as
the rocker studs pulled out of the heads. When this happened, the valve
setting went to the .006 setting.
BTW, this was NOT an authorized VW repair, but a lot of factory rebuilt
engines came back with repair kits in the heads.
Easiest way to tell which heads you have, is, are the rocker arm mount bosses
round? or square? Round is the long stud, and square is the short stud heads.
Most of the repair kits for the long stud heads changed the rocker arm
mounting to be with bolts, instead of studs.
