<x-charset iso-8859-1>NeilV=> if anybody knows the actual setting => for a vacuum-only advance dizzy on a carb engine. Since distributors tend to move from car to car, I would advise checking the total advance on the unit you're using. It's possible that it's advancing too far, causing detonation at full advance even though you've retarded it significantly at idle. (And you're only pulling vacuum from one carb, right?) For sea-level driving with 92 octane fuel I'd aim for 7.5 degrees advance at idle and around 30 degrees max advance.
