The most common cause for water in this area is a FI brain cover that is not properly installed on the LHS. There are clips on the bottom that hold the bottom tight while the 2 serews hold the top. The clips are often slipped on the wrong side of the panel, or sometimes broken off. I have seen type 3s with this section rusted badly and then torn as the engine dragged the sides down. Usually the result of off- roading. - Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------------------------- Search old messages on the Web!
