MikeT=> How is the on/off set up on a '64? Is => there supposed to be a sliding block off plate => for the front heat outlets? That's correct. When you switch the air valves under the rear seat to direct heat to the front and then shut the front heat vents, you get defrost. Check the paper tubes up under the dash as well.
