The only Type 3s sold here (UK) with bullet indicators were the bottom of the range 1500. The 1500S and all the 1600 models up to July 69 had the small wrap-round indicators. The tail-light assemblies were flattened on the base models, and the sharper larger mouldings on the 1500S and 1600, with chrome wrap-round reflector housings. The foot-long models of the long nose prototypes (turquoise metallic and orange) which can be seen at times in the Wolfsburg museum are modelled with the smaller wrap round front indicators. I understand it was due to USA safety regs that the larger indicator housings were developed, along with the bigger bumpers and the reinforcing front bar. I've a nice Aug 64 brochure with the two compared - it even shows the 1500N models of Notch and Squareback without the separate door locks on the passenger side, as discussed recently. Dave.
