[T3] Fumes

Hello T3ers,

The lady that lives in a small apt physically connected to my garage is
obviously NOT a VW fanatic like me. Apparently my 66 Square (12v) set off
her carbon monoxide detector in her apartment. I'm gonna stray here a
little, this is too weird not to share - so what does she do, instead of
saying anything to me, she calls the landlord and he comes over and locks my
car in the garage so I can't get it out anymore. OK, so I kinda freak out,
my husband is not home, so I call the cops. Landlord realizes I wasn't
kidding, so he leaves. Cops come, they assess the situation and since
landlord apparently didn't quite lock the garage quite right, they help me
open it back up and reconnect the garage door opener. All this over a few
little fumes out of a classic car that's almost 40 years old. Come on
people, CHILL OUT!!!! Well thank the LORD, we are moving on the 25th of
July to our house with the detached shop with 3 car stalls in the country
with 5 acres.

Back to the point, I guess I have noticed it being a little fumey (carbon
monoxide???) in the car when I'm driving, even with all the windows down.
And since we sold our other truck, I've been driving the Square everyday and
it smells a little of gasoline after sitting overnite. I only drive it
about 15 miles each day. Anyone have similar smells and any suggestions on
suppressing and/or preferably eliminating the cause of the fumes.

Thanks a bunch,
Diana
