You really don't need to remove much metal, so that is not a problem. The recommended drill size (which should come with the kit) is 10.25mm, which might take a somewhat larger drill chuck to accomodate. I think the main question would be whether you can drill the hole square to the knuckle so that the bolts will fit thru the steering arm AND the knuckle. I think that if you had some good help to watch your drill, then you should be able to do this. Each of you should watch from different perspectives, 90 deg apart. You should be helped by the fact that the holes should be somewhat self piloting. Even on a drill press this could be tough, because you have to get the knuckle fixtured so that it's square. If you go this far, I would consider chucking on the spindle in a milling machine and drilling in from the back. That way you could check the squareness by laying the steering arm on the knuckle and verifying that a 10mm drill will pass thru without interference. - Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------------------------- Search old messages on the Web!
