Wow!!! Have you checked with more than 1 place? I would think it 
should be much less than this.

Good question, and there may well be no good answer. You might 
try a automotive paint supply store to see if they have a silicone 
solvent. I suspect that you really don't need to get these all that 
clean. Just clean off the drum, hardware, and backing plate, and 
the surfaces of the shoes.
