Both used a pressure switch on one of the pressure test points to 
indicate switching into high gear. This did not go to the FI brain, but 
rather to a complicated arrangement of relays related to the 
vacuum advance and the EGR. At least on type 3s this was limited 
to 72-3 AT cars with EGR, I think.

It's really not a transmission difference, just the replacement of a 
threaded plug with a pressure switch for certain other options in 
certain years.
