OK, I've scanned the pages with the hinge change info out of the factory service manual. This has chassis numbers, line dwgs, and pin info. Those that want a copy email me. It is two files maybe 500 kb. These will answer most questions pertaining to hinges and why they were changed. It won't answer why the notch remained the odd hinged car throughout production. I have sucessfully made the adaptor hinges listed on the 2nd page of the document. Had to for the replacement NOS door that is hanging on the right side of my car. Not easy but I had to use good hinges, 2 early and 2 late to make one pair. I still have the left side hinges here for a future need (?)
