Hi all I am hoping to purchase a squareback and was wondering what year model is considered best, and what to look out for. i guess it depends on application and personal taste. I quite like the older ones, but thinking they might not be so reliable/comfortable. I'm in Australia (Melbourne) and not quite sure what to pay either. Is anyone on this list in Oz? Any vehicles for sale? I saw one the other day (a '64) that was quite nice - had been restored about 8 years ago and just recently had all new interior. Engine was a 1640 i think with a lumpier cam, also extractors. Inside was v.nice, but outside paint was not perfect. Asking $6000 at a vw specialist wrecker importer place. me thinks a bit expensive. but ??
