I'd favour the heat approach to break the rust without causing major problems. A hammer and chisel can also persuade the nut to turn. In some ways it's safer than a wrench as the sudden impact is more likely to turn it without damaging the oval hole in the torsion arm. It is very easy for corroded torsion arms to lose the flats on the sides of the hole. Dave.
