Yes, you are correct. It is technically the front half of the case. As long as I've been working on these things, I thought I would know that by now. :) As for removing the gaskets, I'll give that a shot but I don't think that will do it. The holes appear to be off by a considerable distance, more than the thin gaskets. I've also never had this issue on any of my other motors. Thanks.
