The importing company didn't order Notchbacks - they were not seen as worthwhile after the Fastback came in. The Type 3 was sold as a sporty VW model - twin carbs and then the rear suspension with double-jointed axle like a Porsche... Notches were (generally?) to special order (AFAIK). Dave.
