RE:Steering Wheel Problem

Ok, the first thing you need to do is get the center
cap off of the horn ring(the one with the wolfsburg
crest on it). This is accomplished by very gentle prying at the edge of it with a blade screwdriver. It is
in place with a spring crip and will pop right off, but
again be careful not to damage the button.Once off, you
will see a wire connected to the crome horn ring by way
of a flathead screw.Remove the screw and put the wire aside and then replace the screw so you dont lose it,or
put it somewhere's safe.Underneath the ring directly in
the center, you will see the large nut that holds the wheel on.You need to get a deep socket to fit it(don't
remember the size, sorry),slip the wire inside it and
slip it down onto the nut.Remove the nut and put it aside.Grasp the wheel firmly on either side and wiggle
it to and fro(careful it doesn't come free quickly and
bust yer nose...lol).If this won't break it free, you can try very very gently rapping directly on the center
of the steering shaft using a brass drift and a hammer.
Just remember you aren't driving nails here,VW parts
ain't cheap.It shouold come right off.I didn't even
need the extreme measures with my fasty, but had to
resort to it with a few type 1's.
Hope it helps.
