Re: [T3] PLASTIC PART FABRICATION

If it's the metal fuel filler neck that's being considered, that's fairly
easily repaired using Bug parts; the rubber vent elbow can often be repaired
neatly with plumbing parts, and the hose linking them is a uniform diameter.
What part is it that you want to mould?

We (the club) were investigating metal panel fabrication a few years ago,
and came up with exactly what John has explained. The cost for a modest run
is much more than anyone would pay. Fibreglass is about the only medium
that lends itself to low volume production of a complex shape. I could see
a modest market for a detachable air-box inspection/repair panel; might even
make that in vacuum formed plastic? However, it still needs someone to take
it on and invest the time - it takes a lot less time to repair it, and I
doubt anyone would make a lot of money on marketing such a thing.
