[T3] burg lisburg meeting germany.

well .
i pushed out nearly a 700 mile trip yesterday to go to the t3 meeting
here in germany it was quite a ways south of here but my varient never
missed a beat the whole way there i averaged 85-90 mph (going into the herts
mountains) and on the way back i seemed to be sitting at 90-95 (coming out
of the mountains onto the great nw german plain in the cool of evening).
it was a truly wonderfull day and boy did the sun shine with
tempretures up in the high 30s everybody was soaking wet with sweat the
whole day.
and the cars oh the cars yes indeed 70+ t3 all gathered in one place
it was t3 heaven the diversity was astounding from a rusted out hulk on the
back off a trailer for sale thru to some off the cleanest best t3 ive ever
seen the work that has been put into some of these cars is truly amazing.
i meet up with the english contingent in the late afternoon and it was
wonderfull to put some faces to the names and walk around drooling over the
cars together.
when i left they did a quick milage analisis and were pushin the 1200
mile mark i wont steal the story as im sure dave will come on and tell all
when he finally gets back to blighty.
a particular favorite of mine had to be a factory test model erly shape
fasty with wait for it mcpherson front suspension. i talked at length with
the lady german owner this car is driven daily has accrued 850,000
kilometers!
it came into her ownership via a previous boyfreinds father who had
been given it by vw to put mileage on on the understanding that after a
while it would go back to the factory for examination. well for one reason
or another it escaped being returned and i might add crushed as was normal
practice for test models and is on the german roads to this day and a very7
interesting set up it was too with a very comfortable ride by all acounts.
there was a late notch available for 1500dm in resonable condition not
requreing to much to put back on the road back thru to some very early 62
cars.
splendid hopefully dave will put some of the photos he took on his
site and we will all get to have a little look at how so many t3 look all in
one place i am not so sure if i will ever get to see so many together in one
place.
to all of you in the usa thinking of being part of the invasion if my
feelings yesterday are anything to go by i suggest it would be worth your
effort to all get together for me it was definately worth the miles to see.
      thanks for reading.
