Start it up just long enough to get everything firing as well as it ever does. Don't warm it up. Shut if off and go away for a couple of hours. Come back and start it again. Does it now start normally? If so, there is some kind of leak in the fuel system that is letting air into the loop as the engine cools. > Black smoke in the exhaust. > Low power. > Crappy mileage. Try disconnecting the electrical plug from the cold start valve. Also unplug any FI wire that goes to the starter. If that helps, something in the CSV system is probably miswired and is running the CSV all the time, or just richening the mixture. It could also be a bad pressure sensor.
