Lauren Wrote: my Dad starting asking me if anyone has ever mentioned an oil temperature guage or anything like that. I know that water cooled cars have a water temp guage that will turn a light on if the engine is over heating. Is there such a thing for an air cooled? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - The answer is yes. There are a variety of types and styles of these temp gauges, even in c or f degrees. There is even an inexpensive light adapter that will turn on your oil pressure light, just like the water cooled idiot light you mentioned. there are different sensor types. for various engine locations. These are popular sellers in most VW catalogs and there exist about a dozen of these. In addition to oil temp guages, there also exist head temp and also exhaust temp gauge known as a pyrometer (not common). I use a head temp sensor for one head but today I will purchase another sensor so I can monitor both heads by toggling a switch. Some people on the list use oil temp meters, they are most common and easy to install. LEON MARTINEZ 1969 SQUAREBACK EFI/AUTO SAN DIEGO AND TIJUANA
