I was told that is caused by leaky carbs or injectors. and the gas is being ignited by the heat and compression alone. Ive also been told that the engine is actually running backwards! (thats part was fro along time ago and about a chevy). I learned this the embarassing way. I was pulling into the Bow Wow store in Lynnwood (VW specialty store) and when i turned my car off it didn't stop. Two of their mechanics were outside watching me as i pulled in. I swear it took a 5 minutes to stop (not really just felt that way). Anyways they told me what was wrong and told me next time if it does't again to stall it.
