Original owner was a personal friend of mine. When she got married, she decided to get rid of the car. (Her new husband was NOT a VW fan). Luckily for the car, my sister had been in a major car accident (shattered ankle) and could no longer driver her Corvair with manual trans. She bought the car, (1979) She drove the car until 1985 when she parked it because of a gas leak. It sat behind her house until she gave it to me to get it out of her yard. Most of the rust on my car is because it sat for 15 years without being maintained or cleaned under the fenders and such before being parked. Also during this time, due to water leaks into the inside of the car, water drains being plugged with leaves, etc, and the car being ignored, the rust is severe. But due to the nostalgia, I am going to repair it. Eventually.
