The oil > light lights up slightly when the key is in the on position, then fades when > I try and start it. Does it only light up slightly (less brightly than normal)? Sounds most likely to be a flat battery or corroded connections to it, if so. What about headlights - do they come on brightly? If lights are bright, could be starter switch, wiring to solenoid (check the connection in the thick wire under the carpet that goes out through the rear bulkhead under the back seat), dry starter shaft and poor wiring connections in the starter solenoid circuit. AT? Is the lever in the correct position to start (doh!).
