The gen appears to be in very good shape; i.e., > commutator smooth and shiny, no ridges, dialectrics undercut and clean, > new good brushes free in the slots, voltage reg connections clean and > tight, no signs of excessive heat etc near the shunt but I still get > this glow. A full blown load test says that the regulated gen output is > in the vicinity of 40 Amps, 14.07 Volts at 2500 rpm. Try checking to see that your instrument cluster is properly grounded. Run a temporary wire from the cluster, straight back to the battery, generatolRÜ or voltage regulator ground. Poor grounding is a common source of hard-to-solve automotive electrical problems. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Nathan Jacobsen '62 NB '69 SB M/T >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
