I've not heard much about speedos failing here; I know the trip one in the '73 project Square didn't work, and I fixed that with a fiddle inside - don't recall what I did off-hand. Maybe it is only temporarily OK. Even though we have the same Type 3s generally, the UK weather is much kinder on the plastic and rubber than continental climates; it's just that the body rusts so fast in the wet. The other odd thing is the way fuel-tank, pump, filter and lines are said to gum up within a few months of being laid up in the USA, when it simply doesn't happen to any significant extent here. Not to say there is no gum found, but not enough to require a wire to get through the fuel line. I guess the middle east oil is just a different mixture of chemicals. Dave. Nevertheless, the same problem will apply to the straight odometer.
