It's meant to be just a press fit in the rubber gasket in the frame. There's a special frame-press you can make to do the job, but when I had to replace the catch on my Beetle, the glass went back in OK with care, and didn't come out. On a Type 3 the catch isn't on the glass anyway, so that's one less thing to bother about. BTW, the 'foreign' atmosphere (not your venting!) is stimulating; no need to start calling fenders 'wings', or wheel wells 'arches' just for us. Vent wing is good enough for VW so it's fine by me. ;-) Dave.
