The light sounds similar to the dome light in my notchback, about 3 X 1.

It's mounted on the left, over the drivers shoulder. It comes on when you
open the doors or you can "see-saw" it back and forth to make it come on
without opening the doors. (it's not broken, its supposed to do that) ; )
