The drums have}§¿ng shoes on each wheel; that means when the brakes
are applied, the cylinder pushes the end of the shoe that digs into the
drum as it is passing (ie the top of the front shoe and the bottom of the
rear shoe).  Could be the right side is operating correctly and the left
isn't.  Maybe a bit more rust formed on the right-hand one and it grabbed
more.  Did the problem continue after driving it a bit?
