Re: [T3] ACK! What did I do????


I've done this on occasion, but only with the sump gaskets that are
gray.  The Mexican brown cardboard gaskets seem to get torn readily.
It just depends on what your local parts supplier carries.  Mine had
both types.  The Mexican kits also had copper-plated steel washers,
the other kits were genuine copper. 

Same place had two different types of valve cover gaskets, too.  A
rubberized, almost black type and the usual brown ground cork type.
I've used the same gaskets for almost 3 years now, no leaks apparent.
There was a difference in price of about 50%, but the ground cork ones
didn't seem to last much more than a year with normal valve adjusting.
