Hey, watch it.
I am not that stupid and contrary to you Americans I have seen lots of
type IV manual transmissions in Germany. I know what one looks like and
I can also read part numbers. Also the rebuilding of A/T's is somthing
of a hobby of mine.
So I conclude that I am able to tell a manual from an automatic.
And on my junkyard here in my temporary home of Alabama there is a
manual type IV tranny to be found! It also ain't Porsche, cause I know
what those look like.
I guess its kinda like with the Notches: never really officially sold,
but some made it over anyway.
BTW there is an Ex army guy driving the only type IV in town, which he
brought from Germany.
My US VW type IV parts catalog has all the manual parts in it of course,
just like the type III catalog has all the Notch parts in it.
I even have a US VW type 34 catalog and that thing was not officially
sold over here also.
