I think I've found an answer to an annoying problem I've been having... I have a stock 71 Square with FI, and every morning, I have to sit and let the motor warm up, else it completely cuts out, and I have to sit wherever I am and wait for it to calm down, ere she'll start again. What I mean by that is; if I jump in Deathrich and just rip down the road first thing in the morning, I'm almost guaranteed to have it completely die on me. I then have to sit and crank and crank to get her to go again, or let her sit, and then I can start her again. I was assuming it had something to do with the points/condenser, and because of various reasons (and it isn't *that* much of a hassle to sit for five minutes in the morning), I haven't really attended to it. Well; Sunday morning (like 2am) I noticed that the stalling off was avertable by pumping the hell out of the gas pedal. Almost as though it was getting *way* too much fuel. It would go along fine, and then start choking up, but if I pumped madly on the gas, it would continue to run; *then* click! And it would run fine. 'Weird,' I thought, and tried to go on down the road. Click! And the car is stumbling and dying. Pump madly, and click! She runs fine. *Then* I realise that there is an audible click coming from my dashboard coinciding perfectly with the performance of the car. Somewhere, off in a dark corner of my mind, I hear a tiny voice say, 'there's a fuel pump relay under the dash, James...' Have I hit upon it? I'll be really happy if I have. What do ye of my Sistern and Brethren say? James 71 Square, Deathrich ------------------------------------------------------------------- Search old messages on the Web!
